Uplifting

2014

A series of abstract Polaroid uplifts onto glass jars, candlelit.

Bristol Folk House, Park Street, Bristol, UK

Exhibition information:

Over the course of 6 months, Joe Timothy Coleman made abstract photographs of everyday life as a partner and father. Polaroid film being particularly unstable at the time, it rendered the world painterly and soft.

Each jar, recycled from the family home depicts something and nothing. In exhibition, tea-lights backlit the already subdued imagery, rendering them quieter and further abstracted from representation. A quiet meditation on the joy of finding family.
